What the Manufacturing and industry industry covers

Manufacturing is section C of the PKD classification, divisions 10 to 33. It covers everything that involves making things: food and drink, textiles, wood and paper, chemicals, plastics, metals, electronics, machinery, vehicles, furniture and, finally, repair and installation of machinery.

Such a broad scope is rarely needed in full. A sensible selection starts with the division: 25 for fabricated metal products, 22 for rubber and plastics, 28 for machinery, 31 for furniture. Food and drink (10–11) are covered separately together with agriculture.

Mining (section B) and energy (section D) are separate sections and are not part of this industry.

Number of companies and contacts

The REGON register lists 339,077 entities in this industry across Poland (GUS, as of 30 June 2026); the breakdown by voivodeship is in the table below. That is the size of the market, not the number of our records. Our own database (196,499 companies, as of 17 September 2026) is one of our sources and covers voivodeships unevenly, so the number of records for your selection is available on request – database status.

Classification

Scope by PKD 2007 and PKD 2025

Section C kept its letter and divisions 10–33. The changes concern individual classes; among other things, division 14 (clothing) was restructured and sawmill products were split. At division level the old and new codes mostly lead to the same companies, which makes it easier to match records from both versions of the classification.

C 16.10.Z → C 16.11.Z, 16.12.Z
Sawmill products – PKD 2025 separates sawmilling (16.11) from processing and finishing of wood (16.12).
C 22 → C 22
Rubber and plastic products: packaging, profiles, injection-moulded parts.
C 25 → C 25
Fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment: structures, machining, tools.
C 28 → C 28
Machinery and equipment not elsewhere classified.
C 31 → C 31
Furniture manufacturing.
C 33 → C 33
Repair, maintenance and installation of machinery and equipment – industrial servicing.

Left code: PKD 2007, right: PKD 2025. Source: GUS, Polish Classification of Activities PKD 2025. The codes describe the scope of the industry – they are not a promise of a filter: today’s records mostly carry the source category, and a PKD code only where one is available. Whether you can select by a specific code is confirmed before you order. More: PKD 2025 and company lists.

The code says what a company makes, not how

Technology suppliers usually ask about the process: who has injection-moulding machines, who welds, who does powder coating. PKD, however, describes the product. A maker of sheet-metal enclosures lands in division 25, a maker of plastic enclosures in 22 and a maker of complete control cabinets in 27 – even though all three may buy the same laser.

The second trap is the address. A manufacturing company may be registered at an office in Warsaw while its plant stands a hundred kilometres away. The export contains the address given in the source; where the source gives the plant address, that is the one we keep.

The third trap: divisions 25 and 33 include many one-person metalworking and repair shops. If your offer concerns production lines, it is worth limiting the selection to companies with legal personality.

Sample enquiry

We supply compressed air and compressor servicing. We are interested in plants in PKD divisions 22, 25 and 28 within about 80 km of Warsaw, companies only. Please send the number of records broken down by division and the price of an export with address and website.

This is a model enquiry, not a completed order. If you give us PKD codes, we will tell you how far they can be applied to our data – today the records mostly carry the source category.

What the export does not include

  • machinery and the technologies used
  • quality certificates (ISO, IATF)
  • headcount and revenue
  • addresses of all plants where a company has several
  • names of production, maintenance or purchasing managers

Questions

Manufacturing and industry: questions about the export

Only indirectly. Machining of metal parts has its own PKD 2007 code, 25.62.Z, but most technologies have no equivalent in the classification. We select mainly by the source category and by words in the name and business description – with the caveat that the result will not be complete.

No. Headcount and revenue are not export columns. Legal form can serve as a proxy; companies’ financial statements are available free of charge in the Polish Ministry of Justice’s financial documents viewer.

Because that is the company’s registered office. The plant may be in another county or even another voivodeship. Keep this in mind when selecting by region – some companies with a Warsaw address manufacture outside Mazowieckie.

Commercial information may be sent by email or phone only with the recipient’s prior consent (Article 398 of the Polish Electronic Communications Law; the provision does not distinguish between consumers and businesses) – the export does not include such consent. The data is meant for postal mail, preparing visits, CRM enrichment and market analysis. Details: B2B telemarketing and email in Poland after the change.
