Source: Statistics Poland (GUS), quarterly information on entities in the REGON register, table 1, by voivodeship, as of 30 June 2026 (PKD 2007: G 47.91). Entities without an assigned voivodeship are not shown. Official statistics, not the number of records in our database.
In PKD 2007 online retail had a single code: 47.91.Z, retail sale via mail order houses or via the Internet. Everyone selling to consumers at a distance used it – from a one-person handicraft shop to large platforms.
The code describes the channel, not the goods. An electronics shop, an online bookshop and a pet food seller have an identical entry. The product range can at best be read from the domain name, the directory description or additional PKD codes.
Out of scope are online wholesalers selling to businesses (wholesale trade), sales platforms as such, and the agencies that build and promote shops – they belong to IT and advertising.
The REGON register lists 34,431 entities in this industry across Poland (GUS, as of 30 June 2026); the breakdown by voivodeship is in the table below. That is the size of the market, not the number of our records. Our own database (196,499 companies, as of 17 September 2026) is one of our sources and covers voivodeships unevenly, so the number of records for your selection is available on request – database status.
Classification
For this industry PKD 2025 means the end of a simple filter. PKD 2025 drops the split of retail by place of sale: there is no longer a “not in stores” group, and an online shop gets a code according to what it sells. Worse still, the number 47.91.Z still exists but means something else – intermediation. The same code on a company from before 2025 and on a new company describes two different activities.
Left code: PKD 2007, right: PKD 2025. Source: GUS, Polish Classification of Activities PKD 2025. The codes describe the scope of the industry – they are not a promise of a filter: today’s records mostly carry the source category, and a PKD code only where one is available. Whether you can select by a specific code is confirmed before you order. More: PKD 2025 and company lists.
While the transition period lasts, most existing shops have the old code 47.91.Z in their entry and can be found by it. Shops set up from 2025 do not have that code. Over time the only distinguishing feature will be what is visible from the outside: a working shop website.
That is why the website column is especially important in this industry. A service provider must state identifying details on its website – the name or first name and surname, address and electronic addresses (Article 5 of the Polish Act on Providing Services by Electronic Means) – so a shop can be linked to a company in the register. In e-commerce, a record without a website is a warning sign: often the business is suspended or sells only through a platform.
Many sellers combine channels. A bricks-and-mortar shop with additional online sales has a store retail code and only lands in this industry if the source clearly indicates online trade.
We offer warehousing and order fulfilment services. We are looking for online shops (PKD 47.91.Z under PKD 2007) in the Greater Poland voivodeship, with a website only, companies first. Please send the number of records and the price.
This is a model enquiry, not a completed order. If you give us PKD codes, we will tell you how far they can be applied to our data – today the records mostly carry the source category.
A shop is a regular parcel sender; warehousing and fulfilment services are sold to growing sellers.
Payment gateways, warehouse systems and integrations with wholesalers.
Boxes, void fill and tape bought regularly, in quantities that depend on the number of orders.
Finding out who sells online in the region before proposing a trade partnership.

Questions
Only approximately. PKD 2007 does not distinguish product ranges in online retail. We can search names, domains and business descriptions for keywords and tell you before you order how many records that gives.
If they registered a business with the mail-order code – yes, but without a website we cannot tell them apart from inactive businesses. Marketplace accounts are not a source of our data.
Once the old codes disappear from the registers, online shops will have to be selected differently – by website and directory category rather than by PKD. We will then rebuild the way the industry is defined and describe it in the methodology.
Commercial information may be sent by email or phone only with the recipient’s prior consent (Article 398 of the Polish Electronic Communications Law; the provision does not distinguish between consumers and businesses) – the export does not include such consent. The data is meant for postal mail, preparing visits, CRM enrichment and market analysis. Details: B2B telemarketing and email in Poland after the change.
We will reply with the scope, price and data status.
